Bristol Male Voice Choir & Frampton Shantymen Concert

Date: 5th March 2023
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Winterbourne Medieval Barn
Live Music

Join us for an afternoon concert with Bristol’s ‘biggest boy band’ the Bristol Male Voice Choir and our favourite land-based seafarers the Frampton Shantymen. We are delighted to welcome both groups back the The Barn for the first time since our refurbishment and it promises to be a concert to remember!

Throughout its 54-year history, Bristol Male Voice Choir has been a stalwart in the musical life of Bristol, recognized for its high standards of performance both locally and around the world. The range of their musical offerings means that they appeal to a variety of musical tastes, singing everything from pop classics to Bach, gospel songs, modern musicals, Mozart, rugby anthems and male voice standards

The Bristol Male Voice Choir will be joined by the Frampton Shantymen, a group of mates who met many years ago through the Frampton Cotterell Male Voice Choir. They would sing in the pub after rehearsals, finding that was a good way to get people to move away and leave them space to sit. Then they tried sea shanties and people started to move towards them so they could join in. They’d hit on something! “For us, shanty singing is a great way to bring people together in the joy of making music.  We may or may not achieve historical accuracy but if you feel better at the end of the evening than you did at the start then we have achieved our aim”
