Christmas Wreath Making Workshop

Join Deb, the florist from Courtyard Flowers in Frampton Cotterell at 10:30am or 1:30pm for a lovely creative workshop making a seasonal Christmas wreath.
You'll be working with all natural foraged, dried and fresh floral materials and be learning how to create a beautiful wreath from scratch to adorn your front door or table for the festive season.
All materials, equipment, tools and full instructions will be provided together with a mulled wine and mince pies during the workshop and tea & coffee on arrival.

This 2 hour workshop will be held in the stunning surroundings of the main barn so that there is plenty of space to get creative, access materials and receive any assistance needed from Deb. 

Suitable for ages 16+

Family Halloween Craft Spooktacular!

These sessions are now fully booked. Please note: no spaces will be available on the door as all places have been pre-booked.

Join us at 1:30 or 3pm for some Halloween themed crafty fun before adventuring on our spooktacular treasure trail!
Create a bat garland, make your own treat pot and decorate Halloween decorations before you hunt around The barn to find the hidden Halloween characters.

These workshops are aimed at 6-11 year olds but all are welcome. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult at all times whilst on our site.

Parking for this event is at the Barn, BS36 1SE. We have a limited number of parking spaces, including 2 blue badge spaces and plenty of bicycle parking.

We have toilets on site, including a fully accessible toilet and baby changing facilities. 

The Barn Bar will also be open serving a small selection of drinks and snacks. Cash and card payments are accepted.

Fused Glass Workshop

Join local glass artist, Rachael Durkan from The Glass Cabin for one of her popular fused glass workshops at either 10am or 1pm.

Create two ‘tree’ design Christmas decorations, they can either be used as hangings or placed in a stand. The decorations are approximately 13cm in height. You can choose from a selection of templates to help guide your design and then pick from an array of pre cut glass and glass accessories to create your trees.

You will have 2 hours to create your trees, Rachael will have lots of ideas to inspire you and is on hand with design advice throughout the workshop. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who’ve caught the fused glass bug!

Oak stands for your glass trees are available to buy for £4 on the day, if you choose this option.

PLEASE NOTE – Rachael will take your finished pieces away to be kiln fired. They will be available for collection from the barn approximately 1 week after the workshop.  This workshop is suitable for age 16+ (under 18's must be accompanied by an adult)

Whittling workshop

Date: 19th November 2022
Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Join Dan Bendel for this full day workshop where you will learn how to whittle a sculptural figure or head with a knife from a single piece of wood.
Dan will show you the basics of whittling with a sharp whittling knife. He will show you the techniques to help you make a whittled figure or Head and enough skills to continue whittling at home.
Format for the day:
First an introduction to the basics and safety. Then everyone will have a go at  the main whittling cuts on scrap pieces of wood. Which include Parring cut, notch cut and the Hinge cut. Dan will demonstrate these techniques.
Once everyone’s had a try we will look at the different woods and approaches to visualising a 3D whittling/carving, using Paper, Plasticine and other woodcarving at inspiration.
Then you will make and whittle your carving or sculpture. Dan will be there to guide you through the process every step of the way with lots of demos along the way.

All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own piece if wood if you have a specific one you would like to work with.

Tea & coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Free parking is available at the barn.

Willow Reindeer Workshop

Location: Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Join willow sculptor Sarah Edwards for this full day workshop where you will weave a fabulous reindeer from locally sourced willow. Perfect for the festive season and all year round!
Your finished piece will be just under 1m tall.

Please bring good secateurs and a stanley knife. All other materials will be provided.

Tea & coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Free parking is available at the barn.

Fused Glass Workshop

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who’ve caught the fused glass bug!

You will have 2 hours to create your masterpiece, using a variety of pre-cut glass and glass accessories in an array of beautiful colours. There will be plenty of templates to choose from or you can create your own design. Rachael will have lots of ideas to inspire you and is on hand with design advice throughout the workshop.

PLEASE NOTE – Rachael will take your finished piece away to be fused in her kiln. It will be available for collection from the barn or Rachael directly a couple of weeks after the workshop.

This workshop is suitable for age 16+ (under 18's must be accompanied by an adult)

Berry basket weaving workshop

Wine Tasting Evening

Location: Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Ian Redfearn returns to guide us through the aromas and flavours of a range of festive wines from Spain and Portugal in this informative but fun workshop.  To include some robust whites and reds as well as a rich port. 
With 25 years experience in the wine trade, Ian makes the ideal host for the evening. He will give some background information on each wine's individual appearance, aroma and flavour, and he will welcome questions and comments. Guaranteed to be a merry evening!

Strictly over 18s only. Please drink responsibly.

Parking for this event is at the Barn, BS36 1SE. There is plenty of bicycle parking available for those arriving on two wheels.

There are plenty of taxi firms serving the area.
