Shakespeare in the Barn: Twelfth Night

We are delighted to welcome The Festival Players back to Winterbourne Medieval Barn as they perform Shakespeare's beloved romantic comedy; Twelfth Night. 
The Festival Players Theatre Company is a professional theatre company in their 37th year of touring, delivering the best in open-air Shakespeare, committed to presenting the very best in touring theatre.
As in the Bard’s day, Festival Players International will be performing with an all-male company of skilled professional actors, and invite you to share in the fun of this amazing play. A Summer treat for the whole family.

Please note this is a Park and Stride event. Parking will be at Winterbourne Academy, BS36 1JL. Please do not park along church lane as this obstructs the road for other users and emergency vehicles. From there it is a 10 - 15 minute walk down Church Lane, or the more lit up route will be via Beacon Lane. Please take care along the country roads to The Barn and be sure to bring a torch for the walk back!
Parking at The Barn will be strictly reserved for accessibility parking requirements and must be pre-booked. If you need to book an accessible space then please email ceara.foley@winterbournebarn.org.uk. There is plenty of bicycle parking at the Barn for those arriving on two wheels.

A note from Winterbourne Academy: 'All vehicles must park in the school car park in appointed spaces. Parking in disabled spaces is for disabled badges users only. The primary purpose of this event is to raise money for WMBT and to support conservation, management, maintenance and improvement of the WMBT site.

Hercules

Online ticket sales for this event will close at midday on Sunday 23rd July. After this tickets will be available on the door from 1:30pm on the day.

IKP's unmistakable brand of "delightfully daft" family theatre is back in The Barn after their sell out show last year for another adventure for all ages.

Travel back in time to the land of heroes, monsters and myths and join Hercules as he labours for beauty, truth and love! Come along on a legendary adventure as Athena guides our hapless hero to success. But with time running out to prove himself a hero, will Hercules ever be able to scale Olympus and get own happy ending?

Recommended age 5+

Please note the parking has changed for this event (as per the pre-event email sent on Saturday evening). Parking for this event will be at The Barn (BS36 1SE). Space is limited so please follow the instructions from our parking stewards on arrival.
There is plenty of bicycle parking and space for drop off / pick ups at The Barn if you are able to arrange this.

We have toilets on site, including a fully accessible toilet and baby changing facilities.

The Barn Bar will also be open serving a small selection of drinks and snacks. Cash and card payments are accepted.

Relive the Christmas story as members of St Michael's church tell it in words and music with the opportunity to join in singing your favourite Christmas carols. This has rapidly become a Winterbourne tradition - don't miss it!

To get you in the holiday spirit there'll be a mulled wine and mince pie on arrival included with your ticket (plus other festive treats available at our bar too!). It will be pretty chilly in the Barn so wrap up warm in your finest festive knits!

There will be 3 editions of Carols in the Barn, please select your time at the point of booking.
Saturday 10th December, 3pm (doors open from 2.15pm) 
Sunday 11th December, 3pm (doors open from 2.15pm)
Sunday 11th December, 6pm (doors open from 5.15pm)

“The Medium” and “The Telephone”: Two operas by Gian Carlo Menotti

Tessitoura perform a tale for Halloween that will make your spine tingle! The Medium attempts to make contact with those who are no longer alive, and when things go wrong, there is a tragic consequence. The antidote to this spooky story is the amusing opera, The Telephone, where communicating with the living proves to be equally as difficult, but with a happier outcome! 

Staged by some of the best young opera singers in the South West, with an orchestral accompaniment.

Rapunzel

Escape this Summer with Rapunzel – an exhilarating, heart-warming production about one girl’s longing to break free from her imposed lockdown and explore the world outside.
With wicked witches, lovable trolls, a fairytale Prince and miles of golden hair, Rapunzel is the perfect breath of fresh air for all ages. IKP’s trademark “delightfully daft” (The Stage) adaptation of Rapunzel brings the classic fairytale to life with bundles of slapstick physical humour, puppetry, and plenty to keep the adults entertained too!

Gaudete! Songs, tunes & carols from Yuletide past

Exclusive for 2022! We are delighted to welcome back GreenMatthews after their sell-out show last time they played at the barn with this exclusive festive show.

Following on from GreenMatthews ten years of successful touring Christmas shows, Gaudete! is an expanded line-up playing new and exciting arrangements of Chris and Sophie’s popular festive fare.
Featuring Emily Baines on early woodwinds and Richard Heacock on violin, their music is lush, rich and heartwarming – perfectly evoking the Spirit of Christmas Past.
Their repertoire spans 600 years from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Featuring Christmas carols, winter folk songs, toe-tapping tunes and a plethora of weird and wonderful instruments, Gaudete! brings the festive season to life in a riot of sound and colour!

Seating for this event will be unallocated. Due to the popularity of this event please fill up any free seats as you arrive so that we can accommodate everyone as close to the stage as possible.

Jazz in the Barn

The Kris Nock Big Band is one of the South West’s freshest big bands. Formed in 2018, the 18 piece band has won multiple awards including a Gold award at the Indoor Music Games and multiple Platinum awards at the National Concert Band Festival.
The Kris Nock Big Band will be taking you on a journey through the ages and exploring the stylistic variations as the big band genre has adapted through generations, from the early years of Glenn Miller, to present day composers like Gordon Goodwin, and everything in between, including music for film and TV.

The Kris Nock Big Band will be joined by the talented vocalist Amelia Jones for this performance. 
Doors and bar open at 7pm. Three Engineers Brewery open.  Band starts at 7.30pm.

Car parking for this event will be at Winterbourne International Academy.  It is a 10 minute walk down to the Barn from there. Please contact the Barn if you have mobility problems.
